A star package from the Lone Star state

My KTS4 package arrived Thursday and do I feel spoiled. My swap partner Betty-Jean (http://bj-the-knit-newbie.blogspot.com/) did a great job!

It was my first swap and a tonne o' fun. My box included three kinds of tea - Earl Grey, White Tea and a new tea BJ wanted me to try called Constant Comment, which is a citrus/spice blend I'm sure I'll love. I'll have a cup tonight in my lovely new Texas Bluebonnets mug. It's big and perfect for a big cuppa. I also received lots of treats. There were two giant Hershey bars (you'll notice one is missing) and two boxes of chocolately cookies. Mmmmm... And, as if that weren't enough, there is also a cute bear shaped bottle of Texas honey. I had no idea Texas was famous for honey.

BJ must have known I was a compulsive list-maker, because she sent two magnetic list pads and a cute little Mary Engelbreit notebook. And she also included some toys for my cats, Alice and Dinah, though they enjoyed playing with the big box everything came in as well. There was also a great keychain in the shape of Texas.

And last, but not least, the yarn. BJ included some amazingly soft Classic Elite Alpaca Sox yarn in wonderful shades of pinks, purples, blues and greens. I'm just starting to knit socks and can't wait to use it. And, perfectly timed, she also included a ball of Sugar n' Cream cotton in Christmas colours, which is destined to be a lovely washcloth. She also included some very nice patterns that will help me use up some of my stash.

Thanks to Betty-Jean for being a great swapper. And thanks to Suzie, Bridget and all the organizers!

My first hat for me!

Here it is - my very first hat knit just for me. I've knitted several baby hats, but I've never done one for an adult before. This one is from a Hand Maiden kit I bought at the Naked Sheep. It's cashmere, and I had about 10 cm of wool left when it was finished. Phew!

A work in progess

Hi there,

I'm just building this page, so please be patient. I thought it was high time to start my own crafty blog. I read others all the time, so I thought I'd join the cool kids and try a craft blog myself.

I've just joined the Knitters Tea Swap 4, which is my first swap. I'm giddy with excitement.
